Two words that don't mean the same thing
FSD is a brand. The SAE scale is the ruler.
FSD stands for "Full Self-Driving" — but that's Tesla's marketing term, not a measure of capability. The industry yardstick is the SAE scale, Levels 0 through 5, and it's the only honest way to compare one system against another.
Here's the headline most showroom copy buries: there are no Level 4 or Level 5 vehicles for private purchase in the United States. The entire consumer market is Level 2 — capable but supervised — plus a thin sliver of Level 3 that only wakes up under strict conditions. The badge on the trunk and the level on the scale are two different things.
